Firmology’s Techweek Series profiles tech startups & companies, products and services that small businesses can leverage to innovate and grow their business. Learn more about Techweek 12 and some of the small business-centric featured speakers.
Besides the established tech companies exhibiting their products and services at the Techweek Expo and successful entrepreneurs sharing their battle stories during keynote speeches and panels, a tech conference wouldn’t be complete without giving aspiring startups a chance to shine. Techweek Startup City was a one day expo to highlight the “newest ideas to enter the market.”
The event was poorly planned as startups had to compete for the attention of attendees. They were only given 5 hours on the 4th day of the conference after an exhausting event-filled weekend, 3 hours of which were booked during the same time as star entrepreneurs Leah Busque of TaskRabbit, Ben Milne of Dwolla, Travis Kalanick of Uber, Matt Mickiewicz of 99designs and Jeff Lawson of Twilio took the stage.
Nonetheless, 71 startups demoed their products and services at Startup City, 35 of which competed in Techweek LAUNCH for the chance to pitch a panel of guest judges (venture capitalists and technology influencers) and win $100,000 in cash and prizes.
While there were many interesting startups, we’re only highlighting those focused on small business.
