Dropbox Opens Office in Australia; Hiring IT, Sales, User Ops

While Google is making news with the expansion of Google Computing infrastructure to startups within Asia Pacific, Cloud file storage provider, Dropbox, has announced its own with the opening of a new office in Australia.

The Sydney office will be its fifth, the others in San Francisco (HQ), Dublin, Austin, and New York. The new office will be focused on growing Dropbox’s enterprise business. It’s all part of its “Chapter 2” plan of acquiring corporate clients ahead of an eventual IPO, as its rival, Box, hopes to strengthen its leading position in the enterprise space with its own IPO in 2014.

In Australia, we’re focusing on expanding Dropbox for Business and making Dropbox a delightful part of people’s personal and work lives. We’re eager to be neighbors with Australian companies already using Dropbox for Business, like Atlassian, Macquarie Group, and Mirvac. We also can’t wait to be a part of Sydney’s vibrant culture and booming tech scene. –Tony Huie and Oliver Jay of Dropbox
